CureWave reGAIN laser

The CureWave reGAIN Laser System is a non-invasive laser therapy device for pain, in a wide range of conditions. The CureWave reGAIN Laser is a versatile alternative that may reduce pharmaceutical intake and surgical therapies to improve patient treatment outcomes.

The reGAIN Laser System delivers energy to the tissue to provide the benefits of photobiomodulation as defined by the application of red and near infra-red light over injuries or lesions to improve wound and soft tissue healingreduce inflammation and give relief for both acute and chronic pain. The laser penetrates deeper parts, such as tendons, ligaments, nerves, and muscles. It accelerates tissue and bone repair and healing. Blood flow to damaged body parts is increased. Inflammation and swelling are reduced.

We often start people with chronic issues (long-time joint pain for example) at sessions three times weekly, then decrease to once weekly or even every two weeks once improvements are noted.

The reGAIN Laser System is a Class IV medical laser system. This means it is very powerful. “Class” in terms of lasers is a safety designation. The higher the class, the more power the laser has, and thus a greater potential for eye and skin injuries. There are four main classes of visible-beam consumer laser – Class 2, 3R, 3B, and 4. Class 3B and 4 are hazardous to eye exposure.

Class IV describes high energy lasers and requires certain precautions such as protective eyewear by both the one lasering a person and the person receiving laser treatment, as well as anyone else in the treatment room with the patient.

Any person present during the operation of the laser system must wear protective eyewear.

This is an example of the pattern by which a painful knee would be treated with the lasers. Treatment time would take 12 minutes.

A distance of 10 – 12 inches is maintained between the handpiece and treatment area.

The laser is not used on eyes. It is not used to treat pregnant women, over pacemakers, or on people with epilepsy.

We do not treat over heavily tattooed areas such as tattoo sleeves, or heavily inked areas.

CureWave ReGain Laser Treatment Examples

This man received a severe burn to his arm. At the time of the photo to the right was taken, his pain was a nine-out-of-ten with pain medication.

After one CureWave ReGain laser treatment (photo far right), his pain reduced from a nine to a two, without medication.

This person had open patella surgery. He received three laser treatments over four days. The first picture shows his surgical wound before laser treatments, followed by the middle photo during treatment, and the last photo shows the extent of his healing after three CureWave ReGain laser treatments.

This photo shows a wound that had been debrided over fourteen months in a diabetic person, before receiving CureWave ReGain laser treatments.

After four treatments, her wound is shown healing to the right.

This photo shows the lip of a woman who received a chemical burn to her lip from a previous medical procedure.

After several treatments with the CureWave ReGain laser, her lip healed as shown in the photo.

ReGain Laser Therapy Q & A

Is this an FDA cleared device?

Yes!  This powerful laser is an FDA cleared, class 4 soft tissue device that provides maximum relief for acute, chronic, and neuropathic pain.  It’s a versatile, proven and effective alternative to traditional drug and surgical therapies!

How long is a ReGain treatment? How often do I need treatment?

Therapy protocols vary based on the condition or injury being treated and individual rates of healing. A single acute injury will typically require a 10-15 minute treatment.  More extensive injuries or multiple conditions may require up to 30 minute laser treatments.  Chronic injuries may require treatments multiple treatments per week.  In all cases, we will provide an established treatment protocol for each specified condition

What does a ReGain laser treatment feel like?

Although technically called a “Cold Laser” it feels warm and comforting during treatment.  All you have to do is sit back and relax.  ReGain is not painful and actually feels comforting.

How does ReGain work?

ReGain delivers concentrated laser light energy to the cellular level.   According to PhotoBioModulation history, human and animal cells respond to infrared laser energy with photochemical reactions triggered as laser photons pass through the cell electrons.  The cumulative effects of exposure to laser light energy reduces inflammation, alleviates pain and speeds tissue repair.

  • Increases Vascular Activity:  The ReGain non-invasive laser induces temporary vasodilation increasing blood flow and oxygen to damaged tissue areas
  • Increases Vascular Action:  The ReGain laser reduces swelling caused by bruising or inflammation of joints and then provides enhanced muscle recovery and improved joint mobility
  • Reduces Pain:  The ReGain laser is particularly effective in reducing pain by causing the production of the body’s natural pain killer’s endorphins and reducing reliance and/or the level of other pain medications

The cumulative effects of exposure to this laser light energy can reduce inflammation, alleviate pain and speed tissue repair as well as:

  • Stabilization of the cell membrane
  • Enhancement of ATP synthesis
  • Stimulated vasodilation along with increased histamine, nitrous oxide and serotonin
  • Acceleration of leukocyte activity
  • Increased prostaglandin synthesis
  • Reduction in interleukin 1 levels
  • Increased angiogenesis
  • Enhanced dismutase
  • Decreased C-Reactive Protein and neopterin levels

Who else uses this technology?

This powerful laser went with the American Olympic team to the previous Winter Olympics to aid in muscle and joint pain relief for our athletes!  Florida State, Notre Dame, Texas Christian University, Baylor and North Carolina all have ReGain in their athletic facilities for their team athletes!
